Make Music Sun Prairie

Join the 3rd Annual Make Music Sun Prairie on Friday, June 21st, 2024!

Make Music Day is a global music celebration on the summer solstice each year bringing people of all ages and skill levels together to make music. This year, over 90 U.S. cities, 21 in Wisconsin, will host thousands of free Make Music performances as part of the world’s largest annual music event.

Starting in France in 1982 as the Fête de la Musique, the event has spread to over 1,000 cities across 120 countries. Completely different from a typical musical festival, Make Music concerts are performed by anyone who wants to take part and are enjoyed by everyone who wants to attend. From classical to folk, hip hop to opera, Latin jazz to punk rock, live music can be enjoyed on streets, sidewalks, porches, plazas, parks, gardens, storefronts, and other public spaces on the year’s longest day.

In its 3rd year, Make Music Sun Prairie is free, open to everyone, and takes place throughout the city. Highlights from the first two years include musical yoga at the Dream Park, singer-songwriter performances at the Public Library, a ukulele jam session at Cannery Square, an open mic session at Glass Nickel Pizza, and an open steel drum jam at Wetmore Park. In 2024, the event finale will be held at the City of Sun Prairie Concerts in the Park, which is being moved from Tuesday to Friday.

Registration for performance/activity sites will be open in March at Make Music Sun Prairie; we hope you’ll join us!
