Community Mural

Prairie Music & Arts is pleased to unveil a new community mural reflecting Sun Prairie’s connection to Georgia O’Keeffe and the natural diversity of the local area. Designed by artist Chele Ramos and painted by community members of all ages in June 2025, the finished work is now displayed in Cannery Square throughout the summer for all to enjoy.

About the Artist:

Chele Ramos is a self-taught portrait artist raised in Madison. She has been painting for about seven years, but her love for drawing began in childhood, where she spent much of her free time sketching faces. In her twenties, she traveled and eventually settled in Portland, Oregon. After spending seven years on the West Coast and pursuing a career in Massage Therapy, she returned to her hometown of Madison, where she started her family and embarked on her art career.

While Chele’s primary focus has been portraiture, her work has evolved to emphasize human emotion and mental health awareness. She believes there are many broken people and much heartbreak in the world. Through her art, she hopes to shed light and spread hope on these issues and encourage difficult yet necessary conversations.

The mural was co-sponsored by Prairie Music & Arts, the Sun Prairie Downtown Business Improvement District, and Sun Prairie Tourism Commission/Visit Sun Prairie and was held in conjunction with the inaugural Sun Prairie Mural Fest to honor Georgia O’Keeffe’s legacy. Learn more about Mural Fest!
