Sun Prairie, WI—Prairie Music & Arts is pleased to announce it has received a grant from Arts Midwest for an FY26 GIG Fund award of $6,500. This grant will support the Sun Prairie Creates Project.
The GIG Fund supports Midwestern organizations to bring a professional artist into their community. These grants from Arts Midwest fund creative, engaging public activities, ensuring that audiences have access to high-quality arts activities such as efforts that engage veterans in the arts, creative aging programs, artists working in schools, and more. “Arts Midwest is proud to support organizations that are sparking creativity and connection across the Midwest. This year’s GIG Fund grantees are expanding access to the arts and enriching lives in their local communities,” said Torrie Allen, President and CEO of Arts Midwest. 61 GIG Fund grants were made across the Midwest this cycle. More than $524,000 was awarded, including a $6,500 grant for Prairie Music & Arts.
Sun Prairie Creates is a collaboration between Prairie Music & Arts and Sun Prairie Community Schools that introduces elementary and middle-school students to the arts. “We are honored to receive recognition from Arts Midwest to support the Sun Prairie Creates project,” expressed Prairie Music & Arts Executive Director Kari Walton. “Through their generous gift, youth in the Sun Prairie Area School District will have opportunities for creative experiences such as music, art, theater, dance, poetry, and music production.”
“Community Schools work as partners with school and community to organize in and out of school resources, supports, and opportunities so that young people thrive,” Jamie Racine, Community School Program Coordinator, shares. “Sun Prairie Creates is an example where we’re not only partnering to provide engaging out-of-school time programs, but nurturing a sense of belonging by providing opportunities for students to develop their identity and express themselves in new and creative ways through the arts.”
